Typical Day in the Role
  • Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is Silicon Semi-conductor AI Project.
  • Key projects: The role of the Silicon DDR and HBM Bring-up and Validation Engineer involves the initiation and validation and characterization. It covers aspects such as physical design, electrical, logic, performance, system, and software. Responsibilities include test generation, pattern generation, configuring test infrastructure, taking electrical measurements, planning and executing bring-up processes.
  • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 80% hands on lab work, 10% meetings, 10% collab.

Candidate Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 10+ overall years of experience in the field.
  • Degrees or certifications required: Bachelor's degree in engineering required. 10+ years’ experience required.
  • Disqualifiers: Candidates without hands on lab experience and experience with DDR validation will not be eligible for the role.
  • Best vs. Average: MSFT experience nice to have. Experience with domain, experience with programming language, and experience in a lab.
  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on how they meet deadlines and quality of work, task/timeline accuracy, team feedback.


Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of system architecture, performance/power, electrical and software of HBM or DDR subsystems for server applications.
  • Hand on experience with Memory Electrical Characterization testing- Jitter Measurement, Shmoo testing
  • Experience with Memory patterns and stress generator tools.
  • Experienced level knowledge of C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience in silicon debug for logic, software, and physical issues.
  • Experience with lab instruments such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Strong ability to triage issues and develop environment and tools.
  • Excellent skills in problem solving, written and verbal communication, excellent organization skills, and highly self-motivated.


Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
1. Minimum 10 years Experience in memory validation and characterization (SHMOO, off set testing)
2. Minimum 10 years experience using coding language like C/Python
3. Minimum 10 years experience with working collaboratively in a lab setting with a team

Summary:
The main function of a hardware engineer is to research, design, develop, test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. A typical hardware engineer is responsible for the manufacture and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze information to determine plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
  • Assemble and modify existing pieces of equipment to meet special needs.
  • Build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
  • Evaluate factors such as reporting formats required, cost constraints, and need for security restrictions to determine hardware configuration.
  • Monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.


Skills :

  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Team player and detail oriented.
  • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Basic knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • 10+ years experience required.
